Is an injury slowing you down, keeping you out of practice, or threatening your season?
Have you been to the doctor but told to rest instead of how to practice?
You don't have to choose between taking care of your health and keeping up with your gymnastics. There's a better way.
Unfortunately, most doctors and therapists don't et gymnasts. They mean well, but they aren't used to seeing such specialized and dedicated athletes, so they often tell them to rest or get surgery. They tell you what you can't do, but you need to know what you can do.
If the pain doesn't get better, you're going to have to sit out completely?
You might not be practicing in a safe way?
Your body may never get back to how it felt before, much less full strength and flexibility?
If you don't get back to full practice soon, you'll miss this competition season?
"Maybe you should take it easy in practice or it's inevitable you'll get injured more."
"The only options are rest or surgery."
"There's nothing you can do to avoid surgery."
"You may never get back to the way you were before."
At Walker Sports PT, we hear this story every day, but you don't have to accept these answers.
That’s why you need someone who's experienced in treating gymnasts like you. You need someone who knows how to help you recover from your injury sooner and also how important it is to keep you practicing and advancing as much as possible.
With the right treatment, you can safely continue practicing while both healing and improving your strength and resilience for the long term. We work with your coaches to modify your practice and routines to maximize what you can do. Then we develop a custom program to strengthen weak or injured part so you come back sooner and stronger than ever.
Here's how we do it:

If pain is preventing you from practicing or competing, the first step is to stop the pain and put you on a path to recovery. We listen to your problem and focus on your goals so that you always stay on track to meet them.

You can't afford to take extra time when you've got skills to learn and strength to maintain. We help you get back to practice as soon as possible, working with your coaches to let you train as much as possible without risking further injury.

Once the immediate pain is gone and you are fully back to practice or competition, we stay involved to help you strengthen your weaknesses to prevent the injury from coming back or new injuries from occurring.
Our personalized plans are focused on keeping you involved and moving toward your goals. Whatever you want to do and where you want to go, we'll help you get there with confidence and strength. So...what do you see yourself doing?
Start participating in practice instead of sitting on the sidelines?
Get back in time to compete this season?
Stay on track to reach level 10?
Achieve your dream of competing at the next level?

What gymnasts in Charlotte, NC are saying:

Christine was the best! My daughter had an elbow injury that the doctor said would require surgery. He told us to sit out for 6 weeks, but Christine helped her figure out the skills she could keep working on. Now, 6 weeks later, she's feeling better, doesn't need surgery, and is getting ready for the season! Thank you!
Samantha

When my back started hurting after practice one day, Dr. Walker saw me for free and taught me what I was doing wrong to put strain on my back. Now it feels so much better, I don't think I need to see the surgeon anymore. I'm working with her instead!
